Business Deliveries in Metro Manila During Covid-19 Alert Level 4

Metro Manila is currently under Covid-19 Alert Level 4 since September 16 and is scheduled to last until October 15. Covid-19 Alert Level 4 is the second highest level of alert under general community quarantine (GCQ) to contain the virus’s rapid spread since the arrival of the Delta variant. The announcement was decided by LGUs of the National Capital Region (NCR) as shared by Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano in one of his recent interviews.

The change in guidelines has been a regular occurrence for Filipinos. More than the guidelines affecting human mobility once again, it also affects business deliveries. Since the lockdown in 2020, there have been irregularities and disruptions with the movement of goods. It greatly affected business deliveries in Metro Manila and even in other provinces and islands in the Philippines. This article enumerates some types of businesses that usually get affected by these guideline changes:

Food Service

Restaurants and other dining establishments are permitted to operate at 30 percent capacity under Covid-19 Alert Level 4 guidelines. However, due to the high volume of cases, some LGUs within and outside of Metro Manila implemented granular lockdowns inside of their jurisdiction. Some dining spots failed to prepare ahead of the announcement and stock up with necessary supplies to carry on with operations for take-out. Across industries, it is important to be aware of the local situation so that you can plan your business deliveries of stocks in time before the granular lockdown takes effect. We live in an innovative era where people can receive their purchased goods almost instantly. Leverage the power of the internet and mobile phones to learn about the latest news and use on demand delivery apps to schedule your supplies in accordance with the Covid-19 Alert Level 4 guidelines. In this way, you can avoid shortages and a surplus of stocks – thus avoiding extra costs.

Events

Compared to 2020, people are more open to attending and organizing events this year. The reason is that guidelines became more lenient. However, the event industry still finds itself adopting last minute venue and plan changes because of changing restrictions every now and then. This is a challenging problem to settle because events and gatherings often involve a lot of business deliveries and logistics. One event can have more than ten suppliers, and each of them must ensure that their products or equipment will arrive on time for the event.

For weddings inside Metro Manila, there will be instances of last minute venue change because of lockdown protocols. Organizers and suppliers need to have impeccable forecasts and troubleshooting foresight to ensure a smooth flow of events and that needed equipment and goods will arrive on time. At a time like this, organizers and suppliers can resort to using on-demand delivery services to help move the goods at the soonest possible time.

Covid-19 Alert Level 4 is expected to be lifted this coming October 15, 2021 however businesses should not take this lightly and must be vigilant to prepare if something like this happens again. To plan and facilitate business deliveries during this time is already hard but as managers and business owners, you must have the foresight to plan ahead of these things and position your operations and business deliveries on top of these lockdowns and changing Covid-19 guidelines.
